Depending on your 2ndary profession, if you are E/Me, then you can smile.

Use domination magic to you advantage. Make him use 3 of his interupts and then cast Empathy. Use Cry of Frustration to stop Troll Unguent. Some health degen would be nice too.

You can also go full Ele and use:

Swirling Aura (Water)
Blured Vision (Water)

Or

Stone Daggers (Earth)
Sliver Armor (Earth)
Obsidean Flame (Earth)
Glyph of Energy (e)
Kinetic Armor (Earth)
Crystal Wave (Earth)
Teinai's Crystal (Earth)

You can always try for a knockdown - Enervation + Stoning + Aftershock/Ash Blast. Or Whirlwind + Aftershock/Ash Blast or use Shock + ...

Always take Glyph of Concentration

Hope this helps.

You're generally not going to do well against a ranger because they have lots of elemental armor. Basically, just go for a flashbot build and make sure to Gale his troll unguent.

And remember, GW is not balanced on 1v1.

Best way to kill him? Degen. Flashdot him then hit him with Mark of Rodgort and wand him to death . A constant -7 degen will make short work of anyone. If he uses a stance, hit him with cheap, spammable fire spells to keep the dinner cooking.
You should keep as much energy spare as possible for the Flash. Don't worry about hex removal too much. Mark has a 5 second Recharge and a 1 second cast. Remember to Gale the Troll like Seef II wrote...

You can take that Glyph of Concentration to stop being interrupted even under the condition of daze.

Hell, I beat a Ranger with my tuned-for-GvG Flashbot. Albeit a bad one.

Just cast Echoed Mist form before aggroing him and he will no more able to interrupt you. Then go for burning 'cause as an ele you have no spells (except from some armor ignoring ones) then can really damage a ranger. Gl.

Urgh these rangers can be SOOO annoying. I went on a TA spree with the guild last night, and we faced the same team with one 3-4 times!

Obviously with me being the slow-ass curse necro, I got about 5% of my skills out ¬_¬

Not usually down with this 1 vs 1 nonsense, but this particular case did make me think of a build I have been considering recently for a good solo character.

Ele_Mes
Elementalist/Mesmer

Energy Storage: 13 (11+2)
Air Magic: 5 (4+1)
Inspiration Magic: 5
Illusion Magic: 12

- Ether Prodigy [Elite] (Energy Storage)
- Distortion (Illusion Magic)
- Conjure Phantasm (Illusion Magic)
- Images of Remorse (Illusion Magic)
- Imagined Burden (Illusion Magic)
- Cry of Frustration (Domination Magic)
- Leech Signet (Inspiration Magic)
- Gale (Air Magic)

Distortion spam to stop interrupts, snare with Imagined Burden, degen with Images and Conjure. Interrupt Troll with Leech Signet or Cry, and stop him from going anywhere if Imagined wears off with hardcore Gale spam.

GG, I believe.

Are you sure about Mist Form? I know Crippling Shot will go through Mist Form and cripple you. You don't take damage but the special abilities still come into play.

As the others have already stated, Blinding Flash is great against non-spellcasters.

If they can't hit you, they can't interupt you.

Correct. Mist Form just prevents damage. Any other effects will go through.

Flash is probably the best bet.

mist form wont work, so just take glyph of concentration...thats why ANet made it. Ele's obviously have the longest cast times....so you gotta bring something to make up for it

Isn't the Monk's resurrection spells have the longer cast time? I know the spells you cast with you ele is long.... in fire attribute normally.
